The MAN 48/60B Lube Oil Suction Strainer is a suction-side strainer used within the lubricating-oil system of MAN 48/60B marine engines. It is identified as FIL-004 and protects the lube-oil pumps against larger dirt particles that may have accumulated in the lube-oil tank.

MAN recommends using a cone-type strainer with a mesh size of 1.5 mm for this application.

The installed strainer arrangement and replacement specification should be verified against the actual MAN 48/60B lubrication system and applicable MAN technical documentation before replacement.

Application Notes

The lube oil suction strainer FIL-004 protects the lube-oil pumps against larger dirt particles that may have accumulated in the lube-oil tank. MAN recommends a cone-type strainer with a mesh size of 1.5 mm. Two manometers installed before and after the strainer indicate when manual cleaning becomes necessary. MAN recommends that manual cleaning should preferably be carried out in port.

The MAN 48/60 Lube Oil Suction Strainer is a filtration component of the lubricating-oil system of the MAN 48/60B marine engine. It is identified in MAN documentation as FIL-004 and protects the lube-oil pumps against larger dirt particles that may have accumulated in the tank.

MAN recommends using a cone-type strainer with a mesh size of 1.5 mm for this application. Two manometers installed before and after the strainer indicate when manual cleaning of the filter becomes necessary, which MAN recommends should preferably be carried out in port.

The MAN 48/60 Lube Oil Suction Strainer should therefore be matched to the installed FIL-004 arrangement and relevant MAN technical documentation before replacement. The applicable construction, dimensions and installation details should be verified against the installed component and system configuration.
