Application Notes

Automatic filtration of fuel oil within the fuel oil feeder/booster unit of the Wärtsilä 26 marine engine. Wärtsilä recommends an automatic filter with a manually cleaned filter in the stand-by line, fitted with a heating jacket. Overheating above 100 °C is to be prevented, and it must be possible to switch off the heating for operation on MDF. The exact filter construction, dimensions and replacement specification should be verified against the installed filter arrangement and applicable Wärtsilä documentation before replacement.

Additional Notes

Design data stated in the Wärtsilä 26 Product Guide for the automatic filter (booster unit, 1F08): design temperature 100 °C; design pressure 1.6 MPa (16 bar); design flow equal to the feed pump capacity; preheating if the fuel viscosity is higher than 25 cSt at 100 °C. Fineness of the stand-by filter: 34 µm absolute (ß34 = 2, ß50 = 75, ISO 16889). Maximum permitted pressure drops at 14 cSt: 20 kPa (0.2 bar) clean filter; 80 kPa (0.8 bar) alarm.
