Application Notes
Fine filtration (safety filtration) of marine diesel fuel (MDF) upstream of the Wärtsilä 26 marine engine. Wärtsilä specifies a full flow duplex filter with steel net, installed as near the engine as possible, with the same pipe diameter between the filter and the engine as before the filters. The exact filter construction, dimensions and replacement specification should be verified against the installed filter arrangement and applicable Wärtsilä documentation before replacement.

Design data stated in the Wärtsilä 26 Product Guide for the fine filter or safety filter (MDF, 1F05): design temperature 50 °C; design flow larger than the feed/circulation pump capacity; design pressure 1.6 MPa (16 bar). Maximum permitted pressure drops at 14 cSt: 20 kPa (0.2 bar) clean filter; 80 kPa (0.8 bar) alarm.
