The Wärtsilä 31 Fine Filter (MDF), designated 1F05, is part of the MDF fuel system. It is a full-flow duplex-type filter with steel net and must be installed as near the engine as possible.
Additional Notes
The documented design data specify a design temperature of 50 °C, a design flow larger than the feed/circulation pump capacity, and a design pressure of 1.6 MPa (16 bar). The maximum permitted pressure drops at 14 cSt are 20 kPa (0.2 bar) for a clean filter and 80 kPa (0.8 bar) at alarm. The pipe diameter between the fine filter and the engine should be the same as the diameter before the filters.
