The Wärtsilä 50DF Engine Air Intake Filter is identified in the Wärtsilä 50DF Product Guide as "Air filter" (component 01), fitted on the turbocharger as part of the internal combustion air and exhaust gas system (Fig. 11.1, in-line engines, and Fig. 11.2, V-engines). Wärtsilä states that combustion air is usually taken from the engine room through this filter, which reduces the risk of low intake temperatures and contamination of the combustion air with dust, sea water or fumes.

Application Notes

The air filter (component 01) is fitted on the turbocharger, as shown in Fig. 11.1 (in-line engines) and Fig. 11.2 (V-engines) of the Wärtsilä 50DF Product Guide. Per Section 10.2, the filter allows combustion air to be drawn from the engine room while reducing the risk of contamination from dust, sea water or fumes, and of low intake air temperatures.

Additional Notes

The air filter (component 01) is common to both in-line and V-engine variants of the Wärtsilä 50DF, appearing identically in Fig. 11.1 and Fig. 11.2 of the Product Guide. It is listed alongside the turbocharger, charge air cooler, water separator and restrictor as part of the internal combustion air and exhaust gas system. No filter media, micron rating, or OEM part number is specified for the air filter in the reviewed Wärtsilä documentation.

The Wärtsilä 50DF Engine Air Intake Filter is identified in the Wärtsilä 50DF Product Guide as “Air filter” (component 01), fitted on the turbocharger as part of the internal combustion air and exhaust gas system. It appears identically in Fig. 11.1 (in-line engines, 3V69E8745-5i) and Fig. 11.2 (V-engines, 3V69E8746-5h), alongside the turbocharger, charge air cooler, water separator and restrictor.

Per Section 10.2 of the Product Guide, combustion air is usually taken from the engine room through this filter, which reduces the risk of contamination from dust, sea water or fumes, and of low intake air temperatures at the turbocharger inlet.

No filter media, micron rating, or OEM part number is specified for the air filter in the reviewed documentation. Engine Family is Wärtsilä 50DF.
